Northern Rye is an heirloom variety that has been passed from farmer to farmer in eastern Washington for over 100 years. Despite its low yield, it is an amazingly sweet berry with superb rye flavor. When cooked as a whole berry, it makes an excellent addition to soups and grain salads. The flour is ideal for traditional rye breads, homemade pretzels, and for sourdough artisan breads. Our crop was grown by Todey Menix in Tokio, TX.
