Precursors of this strain of flint corn have been raised continuously for 800 years on the mesas of northern Arizona. Used by the Hopis to make ceremonial Piki Bread. Hopi Blue makes an excellent cornmeal for blue cornbread. Whole kernels are nixtamalized for masa to make blue tortillas.

    Absolutely beautiful and delicious!

    I made fire roasted corn and Hatch chili fritters with cast iron seared scallops with a hatch chili cilantro pesto and they were outstanding!

    Tastes great, looks not so much

    I bought the grits (not polenta). They cook up well (I use the Instantpot) with a smooth texture and subtle nutty taste. Unfortunately the blue corn becomes an unappetizing gray that makes Dickensian gruel come to mind. I serve it with shredded cheese and a chopped hardboiled egg on top, both to add protein and to disguise the grits. Next time I'll stick with yellow or green grits.

    Not just for gritslenta or polits

    I do a 50/50 mix of the blue corn grits and rice flour to make an excellent fried coating for chili rellenos. Using it in ice cream next.

    Great taste

    Most people probably think they don't like greats but they have never tasted grits from BSM. Best one by far ; )

    The last two orders were incorrect. First order we ordered 3, 5lb All Purpose flower we got 2 1/2lb instead. We were charged the higher price. Second ordered we ordered 6, 5lb All Purpose flower and we got 6, 2 1/2lb instead.We were charged the higher price again. We would love a response to this problem. [****] Doyce

    These make the best hummus.

    Canned chickpeas just don’t measure up. These, plus Soom Tahini, plus a proprietary blend of citrus juice 🍋, olive oil, diced chilis 🌶 and spices, make the best hummus ever. And don’t even get me started on couscous salad. Happy and satisfied customer. Will absolutely order again.

    Outstanding! Nutty flavor!

    Wow! I have every wheat grain Barton offers and several not offered but this is my favorite! This has a beautiful nutty taste unique to it. I wish berries were available!!! Outstanding and well worth your trying it.
