Join Frida, our Education Director, and Tina Valdez of the Physicians Committee with Responsible Medicine in this plant- based nutrition class!
Since 1985, the Physicians Committee has been advancing health care through preventive medicine, especially good nutrition, and through implementation of clinical research. They are dedicated to saving and improving human and animal lives through plant-based diets and ethical and effective scientific research. Food for Life is an award-winning program that teaches nutrition education and cooking to reduce diet-related chronic diseases. Designed by physicians, nurses, and dietitians, Food for Life classes promote healthful eating based on the latest scientific research. Since 2001, Food for Life has been a pioneer in providing hands-on cooking instruction and nutrition education classes to communities around the world.
In this class we will explore plant based diets and the effects they have on our bodies as preventative health practices. Tina is a licensed Food For Life instructor with the Physicians Committee and a certified nutrition instructor. She will guide us through animal product substitutes and how to make the healthy switch to a more plant-based focused diet.
Frida will guide you through mixing, shaping and rolling out tortillas from scratch using Barton Springs Mill’s freshly milled Sonora flour, the OG flour used in flour tortillas. We will make a delicious bean spread using Rancho Gordo Beans and Tina will show you a perfect build for veggie wraps using all the components made and prepped throughout the class!
BYOB is fine by us for participants 21+ 🍷
