In this class with Tyler (bread baker & flavor specialist at Abby Jane Bakeshop), you’ll learn how to work with our freshly-milled flours to create Japanese-style Milk Bread.

Milk Bread is an exceedingly tender, fluffy bread that utilizes a unique "roux starter" method. The results? A deliciously soft, eat-the-whole-thing-in-one-sitting type of loaf. This loaf also boasts a more robust shelf life than a standard artisan loaf or sourdough - another reason to love milk bread! (We'll tell ya more in class.) Look forward to enjoying some sandwich and snack samplings with your fresh loaf in class.

This class is all-levels - beginners are welcome! This class is BYOB for participants 21+, so bring your favorite beverage and banish the Sunday scaries the best way we know how - with delicious carbs. We ask that all class participants are 13 and up.

This 3-hour class will provide you with the knowledge you need to make Milk Bread for your friends and family at home.

Things to look forward to:

  • Learn the difference between stone-milled and store-bought flours
  • Have an opportunity to work with our own fresh flours, stone-milled right here at Barton Springs Mill
  • Tour the mill
  • Leave a more confident baker ready to experiment in your home kitchen
  • Purchase BSM products at a special one-time discount

Tickets are non-refundable, but transferrable up to 5 days before the class date.

In the event of class cancellation, we will email you a week in advance to notify you of a canceled class.

Carolina Gold Rice

I am pleased that Barton Springs Mill still supplies this traditional regional rice. Once a common staple, this rice is hard to find in specialty restaurants let alone grocery stores. Thanks for keeping this product readily available for those of us who love the taste of down- home Southern cooking.
