Experience a taste of old-world Easter traditions—right here in Central Texas! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn to bake a Slavic Easter bread, Paska. This rich, barely sweet loaf dates back centuries across Eastern Europe, and is traditionally blessed in church before being shared at festive gatherings. Under the expert guidance of our instructor, Katya Lyukum, you’ll discover how to prepare an enriched dough that’s both light and indulgent. We’ll incorporate saffron, dried fruits, citrus zest, and other flavor infusions that give this celebratory bread its distinctive aroma and taste.

Throughout the day, you’ll explore the intricacies of working with Butler’s Gold Wheat Flour. With its naturally high gluten content, this heirloom flour helps your dough rise beautifully even when loaded with sugar and butter—resulting in a tall, gorgeously golden loaf. Between mixing, rising, and shaping stages, we’ll also take you on a mill tour and share a demo on making candied orange zest—with a secret ingredient to make the orange flavor bright. Bring friends and family for a joyful day of communal baking, storytelling, and sampling. You’ll head home with a deeper appreciation for Slavic Easter heritage, plus the know-how (and confidence) to recreate this unforgettable bread in your own kitchen.
