Yield: 1 dozen pizza rolls
Ingredients:
12 individual BSM wonton wrappers
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella or 12 mozzarella snack pearls
24 pieces of pepperoni
½ cup of marinara sauce
1 egg for wash
Canola or preferred oil for frying
Method:
Cut the pepperoni pieces into halves. Brush the wonton wrappers with egg wash. Place two half pieces of pepperoni onto the center of the wonton wrapper. Sprinkle a generous tablespoon or so of mozzarella cheese onto the pepperoni. Place a ½ tsp of marinara in the center of the mozzarella followed by two more half pieces of pepperoni. Fold the wonton over into a half moon shape, ensuring the filling stays within the wrapper, and seal the edges by pinching with your fingers. Place the rolls onto a sheet tray until ready to fry or freeze at this point onto a sheet tray. Once the rolls are frozen completely on the tray, transfer to a freezer bag.
Frying:
Heat a deep sauce pan with about 4-5 inches of canola oil on medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat to 355°F and place 4-5 rolls in at a time. Allow to fry, flipping the rolls periodically for about 3-4 min or until they look crispy and slightly golden.
Use a slotted spoon or fry spatula to remove from the oil and place onto a paper towel-lined sheet tray or cooling rack. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
