Come make King Cake with Barton Springs Mill's in-house recipe developer, Pam Thibodeaux! Learn to make this seasonal treat from scratch and enjoy learning some unique twists on this classic centerpiece.

King Cake has many variants across the globe, with origins in the diaspora of Western Christianity. Brought to North America by the French and Spanish, the American version most of us know today is iconic to New Orleans and the larger Third Coast region. Pam will be teaching you the tradition of Louisiana-style King Cake, which she holds near and dear to her heart, which is based around an enriched dough filled with cream-cheese filling and topped with pillowy icing and naturally-dyed sprinkles. Of course, no King Cake would be complete without the traditional feve, which you will get to hide in your very own cake!

During class, you will learn to mix your own enriched dough by hand, shape and fill it with sumptuous cinnamon-brown sugar filling, bake, and decorate to your heart's content! You will master each component of the recipe and leave with tips and tricks for making King Cake at home with your loved ones, as well as ideas and recipes for unique variations on filling and decorating. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Beginners are welcome, and encouraged to attend.
